Coach Bindel will be entering his 2nd season as Head Coach of the Memorial Mavericks, and 12th season as a Head Coach- all within WFISD. He lead the Mavericks to their first ever playoff appearance and has lead teams to the playoffs every year as a Head Coach, twice winning Region 1. He has an overall record of 92-49 (65%) including 21 playoff wins as a Head Coach and 31 playoff wins overall. In 2018 and 2023, he was named Red River Coach of the Year, and his staff was named District 2-5A Staff of the Year in 2023. Before arriving in WFISD in 2009, Coach Bindel spent 5 seasons as an Assistant football coach/Defensive Coordinator for Danny Edelman. He was hired by Scott Ponder to work at Rider HS in 2009, and then served as Co-Offensive Coordinator when Jim Garfield was prompted to Rider Head Coach from 2010-2013.
Prior to entering the coaching profession, Coach Bindel attended the University of North Texas before graduating from Midwestern State University in 2004 with a major in History and a minor in English and Journalism. He received his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2012.
Coach Bindel believes in the coaching philosophy of "You win the right to be heard." He is proud to be considered a "Players Coach" and strives to help his athletes see the big picture
